The Midlothian Snowsports Centre in Hillend, Edinburgh could receive a multi million pound investment to transform it into a year round destination. The developments have the potential to create more than 80 jobs.
Councillors at the local Midlothian Council have recently outlined plans to invest £13.8 million transforming it into a multi activity centre.
The current facilities include two main slopes, three nursery slopes and a freestyle jump slope.
The new features, subject to planning permission might include the highest zipline in the UK and a new "alpine roller coaster", Activity dome with high ropes and soft play as well as a new reception area, food court, retail space. Their are also plans to develop a glamping site with Wigwams for visitors. The size of the jump slope is also planned to double to 1187 square metres as part of the new proposal.
