Austria Law Change Could Impact Ski Season Jobs

24 Nov 2014

Austria have just passed a new law that could lead to a sharp decline in the number of jobs available for British ski season workers.

Ski season work under threat in Austria

The new law guarantees foreign workers the Austrian minimum wage of £790 per month.

British ski sector employers may no longer deduct board and lodgings from this wage in the way that they have done for years. Employers can be fined up to 10,000 Euros if they breach the new legislation.

Seasonal jobs in the region may decline if less chalet companies operate in the region. it is estimated that over 400,000 UK tourists choose Austria as a ski holiday destination each year.
