Description

Mountain Rooms & Chalets is a small privately owned accommodation specialist in the world famous ski resort of Val d’Isere in the French Alps and we are now recruiting Chalet Hosts/ Chefs for the winter season!

Your main role will be to manage our range of apartments and chalets in terms of cooking, cleaning and client services. You'll need to develop a menu at the start of the season which you will cook for clients who have paid for a catered holiday including breakfast, afternoon tea and a 3 course evening meal while also liaising with clients on arrival, during their stay and on departure.

You also manage the changeover of weekly clients and the work associated with arrival and departure of clients, clean the apartment for clients who have paid for a ‘scatered’ holiday on a daily basis and manage a catered budget and produce accounts.  

Please note; if you have more than 8 guests, you get a full time assistant to help clean, serve and prep with you.

Requirements

  • You must have a cooking qualification (a 1 - 2 week course is not enough unless you have additional paid cooking experience) or proven track record as a chef or cook. 
  • Be comfortable having to Chef/Chalet Host one week then perhaps clean the next if you are not cooking.  Being adaptable within the role is key.   
  • You have to be comfortable moving around.  If you like routine, we are not the company to work for.  If you like variety, you’ll love it. 
  • Ability to work on your own in properties and be trusted with your responsibilities.
  • Depth of character to deal with a vast range of personalities that stay in your property
  • Good presentation skills – this is an important element in the preparation of your food. 
  • People skills as you must interact with clients as most kitchens are open plan. The role is more than cooking, it is hosting too. 
  • Knowledge of spoken & written French

In order to work for us you must have the following:

1. UK National Insurance number and payment history. A temporary Ni number will not suffice.

2.UK bank account. 

3. A UK passport.

4. A valid European Health Card (EHIC).
