Chalet-Hotel Matsuzaka is a 20 to 28 bed chalet in La Rosière 1850. Critically acclaimed, we rank 9+ in Booking, Expedia / Trip Advisor and we are unique with our beautiful Japanese Spa and original cuisine based in a jewel of a resort of the French Alps! Entering into our 14th season, Chalet-Hotel "Matsuzaka" (a 4 star chalet-hotel in the The Originals group) is looking for a hard working, independent, person with a true passion for cooking (people with experience and/or qualifications will be prioritised). We are looking specifically for somebody interested in learning or expanding their knowledge base of Japanese/ Fusion cuisine to work with us this winter.

This is a demanding but satisfying position working with a great team, with good pay and benefits, looking after the kitchen and cooking (covers vary from 12 in low season to 28 in high) using our tried and tested recipes (you will report directly to the owner/manager who is head chef).. all whilst having time to ski/board in the most beautiful resort of La Rosière 1850.

If you are a good cook/chef, serious about your work quality and motivated to deliver exceptional service, as well as able to adapt swiftly to the demands of guests, then we want to hear from you!

You will be responsible for:

  • Preparation of cakes and biscuits for afternoon tea (served everyday)
  • Preparation and delivery of a two choice menu, 4-course evening meal for 6 days (note - many choices are Japanese)
  • Additional children's menu served during school holiday - additional preparation of canapés for special occasions (eg New Year, Christmas, Valentines Day..)
  • Breakfast assistance (the team work together to deliver freshly cooked hot food)
  • HACCP system - Ordering and stock control - Cleanliness of the kitchen (spotless and daily routine)

  You will have one full day off per week.


  • Candidates should show relevant catering experience (preferably some time in the hospitality industry).
  • All applicants must hold an EU passport (post Brexit a British passport should be okay).
  • High level of personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Time keeping and dedication to meeting a very high level of service (before your own leisure time).
  • Flexible, good team player, ability to work without supervision.

  • HACCP / hygiene training.
  • French language.
  • Non smoker.
