Spend the winter working in the French Alps!
We have an opening for a ski technician/bar person for the Winter 2008/09 Ski Season, based in our Aravis Lodge near the ski resorts of Grand Bornand and La Clusaz.
With over 220km of pistes the resorts are popular with our returning British guests, but are still predominantly French, meaning you won’t be based in a 'mini-Britain' as you are in some of the bigger resorts.
Ski fitting will take place mostly during early evening arrivals, but fittings may be required later into the evening depending on flight arrivals. Our ski hire facility in the lodge has a full range of skis, boots, boards and you would have full responsibility for their upkeep and quality as well as being the main point of contact for guests with any equipment queries.
In addition to the ski room you would be expected to work with the kitchen team to serve dinner as well as assuming responsibility for the late evening bar work. The lodge features a fully-stocked bar which is open to all our guests and external visitors and can remain open until 1am if required. You would be responsible for the operation of the bar including the evening service but also the behind-the-scenes operation, ordering etc.
Your working day does not include any morning duties and there is flexibility to manage your time during the day. Your evenings will start before dinner and may run through to 1am, although this depends on the groups. A full day off is taken mid week. You will receive 120€ a week (after tax). Your accommodation will be solely for your use and will consist of a comfortable double ensuite room in the lodge.

The role of Ski Tech/Bar person would ideally have a good working knowledge of skis and snowboards, be confident in fitting and maintaining skis and boards and be prepared to take responsibility for the overseeing of our on-site ski room and all the equipment in it.
In addition they must have a flexible, friendly and enthusiastic nature to allow them to enjoy evening bar work with our guests as well as assisting in dinner service. Previous waiting or bar experience would be useful and some experience of ski tech work is very desirable for this role.
Applicants will ideally need a UK or EU passport or a French working visa, although UK visas may be sufficient for the right candidate. |
